Cartridge’s case head gauge for cal. 22 L.R.

This important tool provides the measurement of the cartridge’s base which indirectly indicates crimping depth of the bullet which in turn influences the release of the bullet from the cartridge case (tearing force). During the measurement, the extremely precise walls of the instrument provide for clening the fat, leading to uniform level for each cartridge.

The measurement of the bottom S detects consequently also the following parameters:

• I the quantity of primer (ignition regularity of the cartridge)
• L the length of the cartridge case (determines the crimp)
• C Depth of the crimp (affects the release force of the bullet)
• F Bullet Releasing force (element that influences the trajectory)

Selecting cartridges with the same value S will get a consistent performance in the trajectory of the bullets. It is advisable to make a first measurement of the bottom of each cartridge and the lot chosen to define the average values found on the dial of the instrument.
